Cross the Kunzum Pass at 4,590 m — a short puja stop at the shrine, then descent into Lahaul. Continue over Rohtang and drop into the Kullu Valley, arriving in Manali for a well-earned warm dinner.

June to September is the primary window, when Kunzum Pass and Rohtang are both open and the roads are passable. July and August bring occasional rain in Lahaul but Spiti itself stays largely dry. Early June and late September offer fewer crowds and superb light.
Spiti's roads demand respect, but they are very manageable in the right vehicle with the right driver. We use high-clearance 4WD SUVs maintained for mountain terrain, pair them with drivers who have logged hundreds of Spiti seasons, and build buffer days into the itinerary so we are never forced to rush through difficult stretches.
The risk is real above 4,000 m, which is why our route begins with two nights in the Kinnaur valley (around 2,600-3,000 m) before climbing gradually into Spiti. This staged gain gives your body time to adapt. We brief you on symptoms, carry basic medication and can adjust pace on the ground if needed.
